Part-time Office Professional

Part-time Office Professional

Emberex is looking to add another office professional to our growing team in Eugene. This isn’t a remote position, however during the ongoing pandemic, many of us are still working remotely quite a bit. Our plan is to transition to working regularly at our Downtown location in the future. We are looking for someone to work between 20 and 30 hours a week.

A little bit more about Emberex before we get into the specifics of the position. We are a company that builds and maintains software for researchers and educators across the country. Our office in downtown Eugene is usually full of smart, creative individuals collaborating together on a variety of projects for our clients. We have a pretty cool break room with a ping pong table, a dart board, a foosball table, a ridiculously large tv and a Golden Tee arcade game. We like solving weekly puzzles, having lunch together, playing games and talking about the latest awesome tv series. There’s even an occasional dog in the office too, even though dogs aren’t approved by the local mailperson.

And now onto what we are looking for. This is not a part-time job solely focused on HR, or accounting or even payroll tasks. We are looking for someone that can provide some help with all of these things. We are a tight-knit team and we share a lot of tasks so we can all enjoy time off while keeping things running smoothly. While working in this position you will be responsible for payroll tasks, managing insurance renewals, 401K administration, COBRA administration, tracking salaries and PTO changes, HR tasks and business renewals and registrations. You will also need to help out with front desk coverage from time to time as well. Some of this may be new to you, and that’s OK. We regularly speak with attorneys and financial professionals when questions arise. Additionally, we believe in continual improvement. We provide our office team with opportunities to attend online training sessions and seminars to help them become successful at their jobs and keep up with the latest laws and regulations.

Starting wage depends on a variety of factors. If you’re an experienced office professional with HR and accounting experience you will probably get offered more than someone else without that experience. But hiring is tough right now, so if you can prove to us you are capable and can handle this position with some training then no worries. We can fill in the gaps and get you up to speed. You probably won’t be offered as much as a seasoned veteran, but you will be offered a competitive wage and some great benefits as well. Especially for a part-time position.

And now onto the benefits. You’ll receive health, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, a yearly bonus, matching 401k, Duck football tickets and lots of free snacks and drinks located in the break room. And when we are post-pandemic we’ll do a lot of other cool things like we used to. Those perks include wine tours, company ski trips, in-office massages and company parties/events. We are slowly headed in that direction and we are all quite excited about it.

If you’re interested in the job, please submit a cover letter and resume to:

And finally, three important notes:

* A note about location: Things are weird right now. We’ll work with you to figure out the best way to get you up to speed and integrated into our team. And when things get back to normal, we’ll probably want you working in the office with the rest of us.

* A note about cover letters: We’ve seen a lot of them - some good, some bad. We like the good ones. It’s your first chance to show us you’re the kind of person we’d like to have on our team. Tell us about yourself, relevant stuff that will help convince us to talk to you, stuff we won’t see in your education and job history.

* A note about resumes: We’ve seen a lot of them, too. We like to be able to quickly understand what’s included. Organization is important. Writing about yourself in the third person is weird.
